Sue Cowley on Teachers TV - An Update!

Sadly, Teachers TV is no more.  However the old Teachers TV team have set up a new site, www.teachersmedia.co.uk, with all the same material available to view.

I hope the programmes I made for Teachers TV give you some new and practical ideas to use in your classroom.   As with anything on the television, there is an element of unreality about the films. Put a couple of cameras and a handful of strangers into any classroom, and obviously the students are going to behave differently. (Although my Manage that Class series solves this problem by using concealed cameras, so you get a 'warts and all' view of what really goes on in a lesson.) Editing might make the programme the right length, but it can mean you miss out on some of the trickier or funnier moments that were captured live on film. I can understand the comments that some teachers make about how you never get to see really badly behaved students on television (let's face it - what head teacher or classroom teacher would let you in to see their 'Class from Hell'?) Hopefully, though, you will be able to find some useful and practical strategies in these programmes. I hope you enjoy watching me, the teachers and the kids in action.
